First Fridays, Christiansted

Shops, bars and restaurants keep their doors open late offering sales at this fun monthly event hosted by the Christiansted Restaurant
& Retail Association. There’s live music on many corners.


JULY 3
Emancipation Day Commemoration, Frederiksted

Events and celebrations commemorate this day in 1848 when Governor Peter von Scholten emancipated the island’s slaves. The
re-enactment is followed by a cultural tour and fireworks display at Buddhoe Park.

Red, White & Blue Golf Tournament, Carambola Golf Course

This monthly series of family oriented activities helps parents and children alike discover the importance of plants. This session is called Pollinators and includes a new section on birding for kids. Did you know that 80 percent of our flowering plants and one third of our human
food crops depend on pollinators? Focusing on three local and important pollinators, participants will explore the inside of a beehive,
discover how to identify birds on the fly, and take a ‘peak’ at a colony of bats while learning what a pollinator is and how we depend on
